- To educate the general public and organizations regarding environmental issues including but not limited to energy efficiency, green business programs and education about sustainable business topics, and climate change.
- Seek to establish public/private partnerships to encourage sustainability innovation across government, education, nonprofit and for-profit business sectors.
- To serve as a resource of sustainability expertise, networking and inspiration to create a more sustainable business culture and economy in the Truckee Meadows, Nevada, California and nationwide.
- To act as a fiscal agent and to seek funding for select sustainability initiative and projects that are consistent with greenUP!’s purpose, which are approved annually by the greenUP! Board of Directors.

Green Business Engagement National Network (GBENN)
greenUP! is a fiscal sponsor for GBENN, a consortium of local, state-wide, and national green business programs from across the United States. Their mission is to facilitate sharing and relationship-building among green and/or sustainable business engagement programs across the U.S. in order to advance the national interests of such locally-focused approaches and spread effective practices.
To provide opportunities for relationship development and the sharing of best practices, the leadership team hosted a number of GBENN Summits in 2016, 2018 and 2021. GBENN is growing in leaps and bounds. At the 2021 GBENN Summit in Longmont, CO, long-term strategic planning was initiated to take the growing organization forward in terms of membership, strategic initiatives, and operational structure.
